I am a lecturer from New Zealand. I currently live in Karlskrona in Sweden, and teach at Blekinge Tekniska Högskola, where I am part of the new Computer Graphics group.
I lived in Ireland for 2-3 years, and worked at Trinity College Dublin as a visiting researcher with the GV2 (graphics/vision/visualisation) group.
I completed my PhD in New Zealand at Massey University at Albany with the Complex Systems group (which I am still a member of) , which involved vehicle mechanical-physical-acoustic simulation, genetic-fuzzy algorithms for automated steering control systems, and 3D graphics and animation topics.
Previous to that I worked as a researcher setting up New Zealand's big science network BeSTGrid, which took me around the world a few times.

My favourite things are travelling, and learning new languages. In the last year I have been to Copenhagen (Köbnhamn), Bremen, London, Auckland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Dublin, Stockholm, Austin, Fort Worth, Belfast, Utrecht, Amsterdam, Munich, Frankfurt, Galway, Cork, Limerick, Sant-Malo, and Fiji. My German is pretty good, and I am slowly picking up Swedish. I had a go at Irish and Dutch last year.
I also spend a lot of time doing gym fitness stuff (bodybuilding, weightlifting, powerlifting, kettlebells, nutrition), and enjoy surfing in Ireland, and also had a go at accelerated free-fall skydiving, and hovercraft racing.
I got a bit addicted to doing bit part/extra acting roles, which is hilarious. I managed to get onto the Paul O'Grady show, and the Tudors, as well as some motion-capture. acting at GV2, which is a lot of fun.
